Tiger Eye

Categories :

Tiger's eye is a distinctive stone with golden highlights. Appreciated since ancient times, it is often associated with protection, self-confidence and grounding . It's a stone that's particularly close to my heart, as it's the first stone in my personal collection: the one that got me interested in minerals and made me want to be here today!

General information

History: This stone has been known since antiquity, having been discovered around 300 B.C.: it was identified by the philosopher Theophrastus before being classified by Agricola in 1546.

Etymology: Its name says it all ;) It was named for its resemblance to the iris colors of the feline of the same name.

Legends: Under the Roman Empire, soldiers wore tiger's eye as an amulet to protect themselves in battle. In India, it was considered a stone capable of warding off the evil eye and negative energies.

Appearance: Tiger's eye is opaque, yellow to brown in color, with darker or darker streaks that change in the light.

Family: Quartz
